What Is a 355nm UV Laser — And Why Cooling Matters

355nm UV lasers are essential in PCB marking, DNA sequencing, glass etching, and OLED repair, thanks to their high energy density and ultra-fine precision.

Only 10% of the input power becomes UV light — the other 90% turns into heat.

 That’s why precision cooling is critical for stable laser operation and long-term reliability.

How Does It Work?

The 355nm UV laser is created through multiple nonlinear processes using:

* Nd\:YAG crystals

* KTP or BBO frequency doubling crystals

* SFG technology for wavelength conversion

 Choosing the Right Chiller

For a 30W UV laser, expect 270W of heat to be generated. You’ll need:

✔ Cooling capacity ≥ 540W

✔ Temperature control precision: ±0.1°C

✔ Flow rate: ≥10L/min

✔ Eco-friendly refrigerant (R134a / R410a)
